Fort Worth neighborhoods we serve

Fort Worth is our home city and main service area. Oakhurst, Six Points and the Northside sit close to our Riverside base, and we also cover the Stockyards, Fairmount, Near Southside, downtown, and north and far north Fort Worth. Our Fort Worth neighborhoods page goes through each part of the city in detail: the pipe problems typical there and the services that fix them. Two parts of the city also have pages of their own: Riverside, Oakhurst and Six Points and the Northside and Stockyards. On June 15, 2026, a 24-inch transmission main break put Fort Worth's Northside 2 pressure plane under a boil notice; the zone took in part of the Northside west of Angle Avenue and a lakeside area near I-820 and Jacksboro Highway. The city's water alerts page showed no active alerts in October 2026, and the FAQ below covers what to do after a boil notice.

Nearby towns we serve

Each of these towns runs its own permits and inspections, so tell us your town when you call.

  • Haltom City: our closest neighbor, just northeast of Riverside, with much of the same older housing and aging cast iron and galvanized pipe.
  • North Richland Hills: northeast of Fort Worth, past Haltom City, with neighborhoods built over several decades.
  • Hurst, Euless and Bedford: three neighboring cities east of North Richland Hills.
  • Saginaw: a growing city north of Fort Worth with many newer homes on slab foundations.
  • Lake Worth: northwest of Fort Worth, beside the lake of the same name.
  • Benbrook: southwest of Fort Worth, beside Benbrook Lake.
  • Arlington: the large city directly east of Fort Worth, served by Arlington Water Utilities.
  • Kennedale: a smaller city southeast of Fort Worth.
  • Burleson: south of Fort Worth, mostly in Johnson County with a part in Tarrant County, and growing fast.

Town pages

Eight of the towns we serve now have their own pages (Hurst, Euless and Bedford share one), covering the local homes, who runs the water and sewer, and the plumbing work that comes up there.

  • Haltom City: about two in five homes predate 1970, and the owner's sewer lateral runs all the way out to the city main, including the stretch beneath the street.
  • North Richland Hills: the 1970s and 1980s building wave, gray polybutylene in homes from about 1978 to 1997, and why the city, not Fort Worth Water, bills you for water.
  • Hurst, Euless and Bedford: one page for all three, including Bedford's report that it has no lead service lines and no galvanized lines needing replacement.
  • Saginaw: roughly half its homes were built in 2000 or after, and the city buys all of its water from Fort Worth.
  • Benbrook: homes decade by decade, the Benbrook Water Authority's role in water and sewer (a district the Texas Legislature created in 1955), city permits, and common jobs around town.
  • Arlington: what Arlington Water Utilities looks after, the 1987 ordinance that makes the sewer line out to the main the owner's, and the permit rule for replacing a water heater.

What homes in each area tend to need

Older homes with cast iron, clay and galvanized pipe

Common in Riverside, Oakhurst, Six Points, Northside, Fairmount and the older parts of Haltom City. Roots get into clay joints, cast iron cracks and galvanized pipe rusts from the inside. A video camera inspection shows a sewer line's condition before any digging; sewer line repair and replacement, piping and repiping or water line repair may follow. Fort Worth Water has also been notifying owners whose service lines are listed as galvanized requiring replacement.

Slab homes on expansive clay

Common in north and far north Fort Worth and in fast-growing Saginaw and Burleson. North Texas clay swells when wet and shrinks when dry, stressing pipes under slabs and in yards. Warm floor spots, a damp patch that keeps returning or a meter that moves with everything off call for leak detection, slab leak repair or a check for foundation leaks.

Pier-and-beam homes and exposed pipes

Many of Fairmount's historic homes sit on pier-and-beam foundations, with supply pipes running through the crawl space. Pipes in crawl spaces, attics, garages and outside walls freeze first. DFW's average first freeze is around November 22; our frozen pipes page covers freeze prep and what to do if a pipe bursts.

Hard water

North Texas water leaves scale in water heaters, faucets and valves. See water heater repair and water heater installation (in Fort Worth, replacing a water heater needs a permit even when the new one matches the old), or faucet repairs and installation.

Gas lines

Smell gas? Leave the building first, without flipping switches or lighting anything. From outside, call 911 or Atmos Energy, then call us.

We handle gas line repair and gas line installation. If Atmos Energy has red-tagged your line in Fort Worth, the Atmos red tag gas test page explains the steps to getting the gas back on.

Restaurants and businesses

For grease-heavy restaurant and bar kitchens around the Stockyards, along Magnolia Avenue and around Sundance Square, and for busy commercial buildings anywhere in our area, see commercial plumbing and drain cleaning.
